Our Story
Courage … Grace … and Strength in Numbers
Becoming increasingly frustrated with the reality that critical self-care for women of color is typically ignored, we fought that dangerous societal norm head-on and together by creating the SisterCARE Alliance. We launched our organization based on a #selfcarerevolution framework which includes educating and empowering women of African descent with the inspiration to develop their strategic Self Care Plan as a form of social justice.
Rooted in the resilience and power of our ancestors, the SisterCARE Alliance emerged out of a pursuit to reinforce the vital survival-based connection between women with a more formalized and supportive network. Coming together in an organized and strategic fashion to care for ourselves and our community is intentional.
We believe we must remain proactive as an organization when encouraging women who are caretakers, nurturers, activists, and leaders to be self-care revolutionaries while they simultaneously fight for the well-being of their families and justice within their communities.
Established in 2014, we are a network of professionals, mothers, sisters, entrepreneurs, activists, self-care advocates, and leaders who are supported by families and communities that believe in our protection, well-being, and fulfillment of our purpose.
We strive to contribute to the eradication of self-care suicide, domestic violence, depression, human and sex trafficking, emotional slavery, economic enslavement, and social injustices within our communities by one gathering, donation drive, presentation, workshop, social justice action, and SisterCARE Support Group at a time.
